Hi, I'm Kari!
I chose the name Kari On Paper for my art business because most everything I love to do ends up on paper: drawing, painting, writing, photography - paper is my happy place. I earned a Bachelors in Art and Visual Communication with an emphasis in Illustration from Utah Valley University. I love to create with most mediums but my favorites are watercolor, colored pencil and collages, especially when incorporating my own hand pressed florals. I am excited to be exploring gouache for the first time and am getting back into block printing for the first time in a decade.
When I am not creating (or dreaming up what I want to create next) I love spending time with my sweet husband and our adorable doggie. We live in Utah and love to hike (in good weather), binge watch shows, have date nights and spend time with our family and friends. I love to read so I usually have bookmarks in 7-10 books at a time as I bounce between them (and listen to some when I don't have time to sit and read). I love nature and am obsessed with butterflies, flowers and my (out of control?) plant collection.
Art has always been my passion, my safe and happy place. I have struggled with mental health conditions most of my life. This has lead me to study anxiety, OCD, cPTSD, and depression in depth for over a decade. I love to combine my passion for art and storytelling with sharing what I have learned about improving mental health and healing from long term abuse. My mission as an artist is to spread beauty, joy and hope. I hope to help you dream, spark joy, get inspired and learn ways to love and cherish your beautiful self.
I am currently completing a 200 hour yoga teacher training - almost finished, yay!
Please reach out to me with any questions you might have! Sign up for my e-mails to get future updates on listings and journal posts - where I hope we can get to know each other better.
Thank you so much for being here!
With much love,
Kari
